Mesh Group (3D)

Mesh Group is a Pro layer for 3D models in a clip. Add it from the clip's layer icon → Mesh Group (3D). Existing clips keep their old look until you add lights or turn on Look options.

Models

Click Add Mesh, then Attach 3D Model. Supported files: .glb / .gltf, .fbx, .obj, and Draco .drc. Compressed models load as-is. Materials packed in the file (color, metal, roughness, normals, glow, and similar) stay on the model. The clip’s 3D camera frames the group.

Textures & surface maps

Each mesh can take a color texture (image, video, or shader). That replaces only the color map — other maps from the file remain. Under Surface maps you can also attach normal, roughness, metalness, AO, emissive, and displacement images, plus roughness and metalness sliders.

Lights

Open Lights in the inspector. Add point, spot, directional, or ambient lights, then set color, intensity, and position. Spot and directional lights have an aim target; spots also have angle and penumbra. Enable Cast shadow on a light if you also turn on Shadows in Look. These lights only affect meshes in this Mesh Group — not other layers.

Until you add a non-ambient light, the scene uses the default studio lighting.

Look / atmosphere

All of these start off. Turn on what you need:

  • Fog — linear or exp2, with color and distance or density.
  • Environment map — attach an image or HDR so metals and glossy surfaces reflect it. Optional background. Env intensity scales the reflection. A studio environment is already there for reflections even without an attach.
  • Shadows — meshes receive and cast when a light has Cast shadow on.
  • SSAO — contact shading (radius and intensity).
  • Bloom — glow on bright areas (threshold and strength).
  • ACES tone map — filmic grade for this layer only, plus exposure.

Motion & audio

Per mesh: position, rotation, scale, color, fill / wireframe / points, blend, beat scale, wireframe-on-beat, and per-axis FFT. Light position, intensity, and color, plus fog density, bloom strength, exposure, and SSAO intensity, can be keyframed on the clip timeline (◆).
