Getting started

ocular.ink is a browser visuals and projection-mapping workspace. You can run a full local show without an account. Use Brave, Chrome, or Edge on a laptop or desktop — phones, tablets, Firefox, Safari, and Opera are blocked (the phone remote at /remote is the exception).

First 10 minutes

  1. If the signup nag appears, choose Continue without account.
  2. Expand the SESSION column → New → name it → pick 1080p Full HDCreate. New sessions come with Channel 1, Channel 2, Master, and Crossfade.
  3. Select Channel 1+ Clip → New → click the layer icon on the clip → Fractal or GLSL Shader. Adding a layer opens the clip so you can see the stack.
  4. Click the clip pad so it lights cyan — that makes it live. Watch the Master preview.
  5. Open AudioAllow microphone access (a one-time mic prompt unlocks the device list) → pick a device → Start capture. Tap tempo if you want a locked BPM.
  6. Open OutputDetect screens → fullscreen-surface icon → drag corners onto the wall. Mapping and Launch all on the toolbar are available to everyone.
  7. Hit the red floppy whenever you see a after the session name. There is no autosave.

Install as an app

On a laptop, in Brave, Chrome, or Edge, use the browser menu → Install ocular.ink (or the address-bar install icon). It opens a fullscreen window without browser chrome — same app as the tab.

Guest vs Pro

Without an account you get the local Editor (GLSL Shader, Fractal, 2D Plane, 2D/3D Title, Video Asset File, Surface Control), surface mapping, Audio, MIDI, the tablet remote, and on-device AI Auto VJ (0 credits). Program out is watermarked.

Pro is $20 USD / month. Signup is paid — there is no free account tier. Pro removes the watermark and unlocks USB-DMX, Mesh Group, Live Camera Feed, AI Layer, Control Cue, clip library, cloud save, Upload, Generate, ratings, and Backup. Generate spends a separate credit balance; the subscription does not include credits.
