Control (MIDI & DMX)
The MIDI / DMX rail opens the Control panel. MIDI is available to everyone. USB-DMX and Control Cue layers are Pro ($20 USD / month).
MIDI Map & DMX Map
From any workspace panel, use the header icons to map hardware onto what you see — like Ableton MIDI Map. You do not need to be on the MIDI / DMX rail.
- Click the header piano for MIDI Map, or the lightbulb for DMX Map.
- Controls you can map light up. Yellow (MIDI) or blue (DMX) means empty; green means already mapped; white means listening.
- Click a control, then move a knob, pad, or fader. Map mode stays on so you can keep clicking and learning. Esc cancels a listen, then Esc again exits.
You can map channel opacity, mute, solo, freeze, A/B, clip pads (including a specific clip, not only the active one), Master mute, the crossfader, timeline play/stop, and inspector sliders such as layer opacity, camera, shader parameters, and post FX. Keyframe diamonds are not mappable.
MIDI Map is available to everyone. DMX Map needs a signed-in Pro account — if you are not signed in, the lightbulb opens signup.
1. MIDI
- Devices — one row per device with three toggles: Clock (clock master), Input, Output.
- External clock — slaves to F8 timing clock (24 PPQN), FA/FB/FC start/continue/stop, and F2 song position.
- Mappings & Feedback — the MIDI / DMX table Learn button still listens for the next CC, note, or pitch bend on an enabled Input device. Modes: Continuous, Momentary, Toggle. Prefer header MIDI Map when you want to click the on-screen control first.
2. USB-DMX (Pro)
- USB-DMX (Web Serial) — Connect Enttec DMX USB Pro, DMXKing, and FTDI-based interfaces in Chromium via the Web Serial API.
- 512-Channel Monitor Grid — Live matrix of levels 0–255. Pick universe 1–16 from the header.
- DMX Learn & 16-bit Fine — Click Learn DMX in the table and move a fader, or use header DMX Map to click the on-screen control first. 8-bit or 16-bit coarse+fine channel pairs.
3. Control Cue layers (Pro)
Add Control Cue (MIDI / DMX) from the clip's layer icon. Enable DMX and/or MIDI in the inspector, add channels or commands, and keyframe their values on the clip timeline.
